Technology is used every day at Haycock Elementary in so many different ways!
Technology at Haycock Elementary
Students at Haycock Elementary have access to a variety of school-owned technology devices. They are used to support learning, collaboration, communication and assessment throughout the school year. Students agree to follow the guidelines below in the Student Rights & Reponsibilities at the start of each school year:
FCPS’ Internet network and computers allow students access to vast resources and a creative outlet to pursue writing, art, music, science, math, and many other subjects. With that opportunity comes responsibility. Students are expected to use the technology ethically, respect the privacy and work of others, leave the workstation in good condition for the next user, and generally follow established rules for safety and security. The same expectations apply to the use of student owned devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Students at Haycock Elementary School are permitted to bring a personally owned computing device to school to support their learning. With classroom teacher approval, students may use their devices to access online resources and collaborate with other students. By allowing students to use their own technology on campus, we hope to increase the access all students have to the technology they need to succeed.
What are the current procedures for BYOD at Haycock?
- Return Signature Sheet from SR&R Document - This is now the acknowledgment of permission to participate in BYOD.
- Obtain Teacher Permission to Bring Device to Class - All use of personally owned computing devices must be approved by the classroom teacher(s).
- Student Brings Device to School - As stated above, there is no longer a required registration process. As long as students have returned the SR&R signature sheet and received approval from the teacher(s), he/she may bring the device to school.
