Technology at Haycock Elementary

Students at Haycock Elementary have access to a variety of school-owned technology devices. They are used to support learning, collaboration, communication and assessment throughout the school year. Students agree to follow the guidelines below in the Student Rights & Reponsibilities at the start of each school year:

FCPS’ Internet network and computers allow students access to vast resources and a creative outlet to pursue writing, art, music, science, math, and many other subjects.  With that opportunity comes responsibility.  Students are expected to use the technology ethically, respect the privacy and work of others, leave the workstation in good condition for the next user, and generally follow established rules for safety and security.  The same expectations apply to the use of student owned devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Technology At Home

Technology@Home enables FCPS students and families to purchase technology products for home use directly from vendors at discount rates. Programs are a benefit of our enterprise licensing agreements or contracts. This link also contains information about free access for FCPS students to Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus.

Access to Technology - FCPS works to ensure that every student in FCPS has adequate access to reliable technology and the Internet by exploring innovative programs, coordinating and supporting division wide and school initiatives, and developing public/private partnerships. Internet Safety - Many resources are available for parents on the topic of Internet safety and digital citizenship. Instruction on both topics is provided to students in Kindergarten through sixth grade by classroom teachers and the School Based Technology Specialist (SBTS). Two outside organizations that have great resources for families are Common Sense Media and Digizen.
