At Haycock, history is an inspiration. Our students have participated in programs like the Lincoln Oratorical Festival and Residency, as well as National History Day, engaging with history in a meaningful, hands-on way..

Civic Involvement at Haycock

We take pride in our students’ commitment to their community. Our 4th and 5th graders advocated for a historical marker honoring African-American history to be placed near Gunnell’s Chapel, demonstrating their dedication to local history and civic responsibility. Due to our student’s efforts with Get2Green and sustainability, Haycock was one of only 22 schools in FCPS to earn the National Wildlife Federation Green Flag. 

Math Matters at Our School

Our math instruction is tailored to meet the needs of all learners, from building strong foundational skills to tackling complex concepts. Math promotes critical thinking and real-world problem-solving. Many of our students participate in Math Counts and Math Olympiad.

At Haycock, students are encouraged to express themselves creatively through writing across various subjects and formats. Through writing, students demonstrate their creative and critical thinking skills, often writing in response to having read primary sources and historical documents and literature.
