Early Release Monday Form to be Completed by all Families for Each Student

As we approach our first 3-hour early release on Monday, September 23, we expect students to follow their regular routes home. To ensure their safety, please complete the Early Release Monday Form  to confirm your plans. The form needs to be completed for each student at Haycock. If you have more than one child at Haycock, you will complete the form more than once.

During the early release Monday time, our instructional staff will be involved in professional development, so it's crucial that we have an accurate count of families needing supervision for their child due to hardship to plan accordingly.

What will afterschool supervision look like?

Students requiring adult supervision due to hardship will be overseen by instructional assistants, school monitors, school staff, central office personnel, and/or volunteers.  Your child will not be with their teacher due to the required professional development. This time will be allocated for students to complete homework, STMath, Lexia, MyOn, independent reading, and other similar supervised tasks.

Thank you in advance for completing this important survey.

Family Liaison Newsletter 2nd Edition 2024

Haycock Hello2 months 4 weeks ago

What is a family liaison?

A family liaison is a school support staff that connects parents to resources needed between home and school to further students' academic and social success.  This position plays a vital role to further increase parental involvement within the school and it's community.  Parents can also connect with their family liaison to obtain guidance regarding community events and school activities.

Who is your family liaison?

Welcome to Haycock Elementary School. I wanted to introduce myself—my name is Paulette Farmakides and I am your family liaison. I am fortunate to live in the Haycock neighborhood as well as having two daughters graduate from Haycock Elementary, Longfellow Middle, and McLean High Schools.  I currently have a son enrolled in third grade here at Haycock.  As family liaison, I will serve as the bridge between our school, the community and your home. I work as part of the Haycock team to ensure your child’s academic success.  I have enjoyed meeting many families and want to take this opportunity to welcome our new Haycock families.

This year, we have over 100 of these new families joining our wonderful school!  Over the next few weeks, I will be reaching out to our new families. Parent involvement is needed at any school and at any level for our students to be successful—the goal for our students here is to obtain a higher level of education. Parents who are involved have children who achieve!  I will be a resource for you. If you have any questions or need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me; new families or existing. This is going to be a great year!  My direct line is 703-531-4001 and email is [email protected]

"Students experience greater success in school when the adults who care for them and help them learn and grow have a collaborative relationship that allows them to welcome and value one another's questions, ideas, and thoughts." --Jane Cofie, Strengthening the Parent-Teacher Partnership

Haycock Hello3 months ago

Having trouble viewing this email? View it as a Web page.

Dear Haycock Families,

We are ready and excited to welcome our students tomorrow morning!

Here are a few reminders to make our first day go smoothly-

Arrival:

Our bell schedule is 9:20 to 4:05.  We welcome students into the building at 9:05.

Walkers enter door 12 or door 1 (whichever is closer to your walking route)

Bus riders come in door 1

Kiss and Riders come in door 10

If you are dropping your student off via Kiss and Ride, please do not park your car.  Simply drop your student off in the Kiss and Ride line. There will be plenty of staff members available to assist students get to their classroom.

Plan where and how you will say good bye to your student.  Except for the parents of our Kindergarten students on the first day, parents will not accompany their children into the building at arrival.

Dismissal:

Students will come out the door they entered in the morning except for Kindergarten students who will come out door 11 (around the side of Haycock where the Kiss and Ride line is).

Be patient with bus transportation the first few weeks of school.  As the drivers get to learn their routes and their riders, the morning and afternoon arrival times will normalize and be on time.

See everyone tomorrow morning!

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal [email protected]

It was pure joy to welcome our teachers back this morning!

Dear Haycock Families,

We were so excited to welcome our staff back this morning! They are rejuvenated and ready to make this a great year for every Haycock student.

We hope that you will be able to join us for Open House this Thursday, August 15 from 1:00 to 3:00.  Take this opportunity to practice having your child walk to their classroom from where they will enter the building on the first day.

Bus riders come in door 1

Kiss and Riders come in door 10
