We are continuing our Staff Spotlight series of blog posts to introduce the community to more of our staff. This week highlights Yujin Choi, our school's ever-helpful and cheerful registrar.

How long have you worked in schools?

I worked in schools for seven years in Korea. This is my third year at Haycock.

What were you like as a kid?

I was quiet and shy as a child but loved being active—running and jumping rope were some of my favorite things. I also enjoyed playing the piano and violin and was part of the school strings program in elementary and middle school.

What made you want to work in a school?

I wanted to work in a school because I care about education, enjoy working with kids, love learning new things, and believe in lifelong learning.

What do you love about Haycock?

The people! I have fantastic coworkers and supportive administrators. Working with the kids is fun.

What makes you smile or brings you calm?

My husband, Brad, brings me happiness and makes me smile. My kids also make me smile, but they keep me busy!

What books are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Siblings Without Rivalry. I have two boys, and I want to help them build a strong relationship as they grow up—especially since they tend to fight sometimes.

What other media entertains you?

I love "Modern Family", "The Middle", The Notebook, and Lala Land.

What fills your time outside of school?

I enjoy walking on the W & OD Trail while my sons are at Korean School. I also like working out at the gym early in the morning.

Our students love "fun facts" about people and topics. What's a fun fact about you?

I'll give you two!

  1. I’ve signed up for the Hyrox Competition this Spring. It’s going to be challenging, but my goal is to finish it!
  2. I immigrated from South Korea in 2017. My parents and sister still live there. I have one niece in Korea and am excited because I am expecting a nephew in May!
