Congratulations to Gifted Education Center Teacher Jon Baker who was recognized as the FCPS 2021 Region 2 Outstanding jon bakerElementary Teacher and one of the five finalists for the FCPS Outstanding Elementary Teacher at this year's FCPS Honors event, held at Jiffy Lube Live on June 9th.

Walking into Jon’s classroom, one can immediately feel the sense of community that he has built among his students. He is a beloved teacher at Haycock Elementary and in FCPS due to his ability to create a caring and inclusive classroom while maintaining high expectations for his students. He does all this with an unassuming nature. Jon has an uncanny ability to connect with students, establish heartfelt relationships with them based on mutual respect and trust, and motivate them to become the best versions of themselves. It is very clear he has made a positive and life-long impact on the Haycock staff and school community.
