Haycock Library
On behalf of Ms. Sklar & Mrs. Chamberlain, welcome to our library! The Haycock Library is a warm and welcoming place for students, teachers, and parents. It is the goal of the library program to develop and encourage a love of reading for all students and assist them in becoming critical thinkers who are effective and responsible users of information. Parents are always welcome in the library as volunteers for shelving and book fair.
Fairfax County Public Schools subscribes to a large array of online databases and multi-user eBooks. Many require a username and password. You can find those details here (FCPSschools.net login required): Online Databases & eBooks. These are also posted in Schoology. All students are members of a library course, which you can view as your child on your parent login.
If you'd like to know more about our online library resources, please contact Ms. Sklar. You can also contact her for personal reading or resource recommendations.
Checkout
When students borrow books, they are not due for 3 weeks. They may be returned sooner, and they may also be renewed. There is no limit to the number of books they may check out. Even if students have overdue books, they may still check out new ones.
Students in kindergarten through third grade are scheduled for 30 minutes one afternoon per week for instruction and book checkout with Ms. Sklar. Students in fourth through sixth grade also have access to the library. Their teachers may send students in small groups and may also visit as a class.
If you need any assistance, please contact Ms. Sklar (@email) or Mrs. Chamberlain (@email).
