We are continuing our Staff Spotlight series of blog posts to introduce the community to more of our staff. This week highlights Krystal Styles, the newest member of our administration team. She's a seasoned educator with years of experience in many grade levels in different schools.

What were you like as a kid?

I loved school and rarely missed a day. I enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and playing the cello and piano.

What made you want to work in a school?

The influence of my own teachers left a lasting impression on me and inspired my dream of becoming a teacher and working in a school.

What do you love about Haycock?

I genuinely love the students, staff, and community. One of my favorite parts of the day is Kiss and Ride, where I greet students and their families in the morning and see them off in the afternoon. It’s a special opportunity to help students start their day positively and connect with them after school, hearing about their day and interests. I also enjoy visiting teachers' classrooms to see the creative and innovative ways they engage our students daily.  Haycock is lucky to have so many great teachers.

What makes you smile or brings you calm?

Spending time with my family brings me so much joy.

What books are favorites?

As a child, two of my favorite books were Bridge to Terabithia and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

What other media entertains you?

As a child, "Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood" was my favorite TV show, and The Lion King was my favorite movie. I appreciate all genres of music—if it’s good, I love it!

What fills your time outside of school?

I love reading, traveling, and cooking.

Our students love "fun facts" about people and topics. What's a fun fact about you?

It should be pretty obvious that my favorite color is pink!
