We are continuing our rebooted Staff Spotlight series of blog posts to introduce the community to more of our staff. Recently, we've added a nomination question to the survey, and this week, Sierra Hepner was nominated. She has been a member of the first grade team since she started her teaching career here four years ago.

What do you love about Haycock?

I love my amazing first graders and the first grade team! 

What makes you smile or brings you calm?

My students and my yellow Labrador Retriever, Maggie. 😊

What books are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell. My favorite genres are mysteries and thrillers.

What other media entertains you?

I like to watch comedies and true crime documentaries on TV. I love the Harry Potter movies, and my favorite singer is Taylor Swift.  

What fills your time outside of school?

I love to read, draw, do puzzles, and swim. I also love animals!

Our students love "fun facts" about people and topics. What's a fun fact about you?

I was in the Virginia Tech marching band’s color guard for 5 years. I got to perform at the Battle of Bristol in 2016 which holds the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at an NCAA football game.
