Staff Spotlight
Fifth grade teacher Jeff Morrow
Rolling into April with our Staff Spotlight series. This week, get the 411 on one veteran from the fifth grade team, Jeff Morrow!
How long have you been teaching?
This is my 28th year teaching, six of which have been here at Haycock.
What do you love about Haycock?
I love the diversity and variety of cultures found in our school. I also like how smart and inquisitive our students are. I've taught in three different schools (and states), and our PTA is by far the most supportive I've been a part of!
What makes you smile or brings you calm?
Nature! I love being outside. Our family has a cabin on a lake in Canada, and that is my favorite place to be. No TV, no computers, no running water. You have to get in a boat to get there. Lots of loons, moose, wolves, stars, campfires, card games...
It's perfect!
What books are you currently reading?
I just reread Out of my Mind by Sharon Draper. I love reading books that my students recommend. It keeps me up to date on what they like.
What other media entertains you?
My wife and I enjoy Big Bang Theory.
What fills your time outside of school?
I like to fish and hunt. I enjoy singing (barbershop). I also like to make balloon creations, juggle, and perform magic tricks.
Our students love "fun facts" about people and topics. What's a fun fact about you?
I grew up in Orchard Park, New York near Buffalo, right down the road from the Buffalo Bills Stadium. I always have been and always will be a Bills fan--no matter where life brings me!
