We are continuing our rebooted Staff Spotlight series of blog posts to introduce the community to more of our staff. Erin Kuhn has been a member of the first grade team since she joined the Hayock staff in 2017.

How many years have you been a teacher?

This is my ninth year teaching, seven of them at Haycock.

What do you love about Haycock?

The supportive and collaborative nature of the entire staff and community make Haycock a wonderful place to work! One of my favorite things is catching up with former students and families to hear how they've been doing since they've left my first grade classroom. 

What makes you smile or brings you calm?

My husband does a great job of making me smile every day, and the beach is my favorite calm place. 

What books are you currently reading?

I'm currently splitting my time between Matthew Perry's memoir and The Only One Left by Riley Sager. 

What other media entertains you?

I am very into crime TV. lately, I have been rewatching Criminal Minds. As for music, I spend my time listening to classic rock and Taylor Swift.  

What fills your time outside of school?

I am an avid reader, so I spend a lot of free time reading. I also enjoy sketching and painting in my spare time. 

Our students love "fun facts" about people and topics. What's a fun fact about you?

During a study abroad experience in college, I took a 24-hour bus trip to the Artic Circle in Sweden to see the northern lights.
