Dear Haycock Elementary School Staff, Parents, and Community Members,

The Region 2 Office is pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth (“Liz”) Beaty, current Assistant Principal at Chesterbrook Elementary School, has been named the new principal of Haycock Elementary School.  Her official start date will be September 28, 2020. Dr. Liz Beaty and Interim Principal Augie Frattali will work together, side by side, after September 28 to ensure that there is a smooth transition.

Dr. Beaty began her career in Fairfax County as a Special Education teacher which she taught for 16 years at three different schools; she taught at Union Mill, Deer Park, and Virginia Run Elementary. In 2016 she was named the assistant principal at Braddock Elementary where she was instrumental in helping and supporting curricula and co-curricular experiences with an inclusion perspective for all students.  Her rich experiences at Braddock Elementary and Chesterbrook Elementary have prepared her to lead a school by putting equity at the center of instruction for all students.  As a result of her 16 years as a Special Education teacher, she brings a deep understanding of the education of students with disabilities, twice exceptional students, as well as an understanding of how rigorous instruction and best pedagogical practices can be embedded for all students.  Currently Dr. Beaty is also serving as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in the Division of Special Education and disAbility Research.

Dr. Beaty’s coaching and reflective leadership style, ability to build excellent relationships with the communities where she has worked, and her outstanding communication skills make her a great match for the Haycock community. Liz is well-known for her ability to manage multiple programs in an effort to meet the needs of all her students. She understands how to bring a diverse community together in a positive and holistic manner.

Dr. Beaty inspires credibility with her significant years of teaching experience.  Her calm demeanor, strong instructional background, as well as her experiences in her previous positions demonstrate that she will build on the success that Haycock has experienced over the years and she will work to ensure it is a great school for every child.

Dr. Beaty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from The University of Virginia.  She also has attained a Master of Arts in Special Education from American University. She also has received her Doctor of Education in Administration and Supervision from The University of Virginia.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Beaty as the new principal of Haycock Elementary School.
