This week's Staff Spotlight highlights one of our newest staff members, school health aide Aya El-Muqayed. This is her first time working in a school, and we're delighted to have her!

What were you like as a child?

I was always a very curious girl, always asking lots of questions. I also loved to learn and try new things. I also enjoyed playing outside with my friends around the neighborhood and read lots of books in my free time.

What made you want to work in a school?

I wanted to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community. Working as a school nurse is very fulfilling in the way where I am able to promote health and student's wellbeing. 

What do you love about Haycock?

I love the connections I've made with the students and staff. I love the positive, welcoming, and supportive environment at this school. 

What makes you smile or relaxes you?

Spending time with my loved ones and taking walks outside in nature. 

What other media entertains you?

My favorite movie has to be "Inside Out". My favorite TV show has to be "The Office". 

What fills your time outside of school?

I like to spend time with my friends and family whenever I get the chance. I also like to volunteer in my community during my free time. 

Our students love "fun facts" about people and topics. What's a fun fact about you?

I used to work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at my local hospital!
