We had a great turnout for Rachel Bailey’s parent presentation last Thursday, November 2, 2017. A big thank you to the PTA for funding this valuable presentation. Here are some key points from her presentation:

How can we as parents raise confident, resilient, responsible children?

Parenting by Deposit

  • Depositing into their emotional needs
  • Establishing connection, significance, capability, control, and security.
    • Proactively (on an ongoing basis)
    • Connecting with our children: i.e. Ask a question about something they care about; develop a family ritual every day.
    • Significance: Remember what they say. Ask for their opinion or help.
    • Capability: What’s the solution? What do you need?
  • In the Moment
    • Connect: Understand his/her behavior from HIS/HER PERSPECTIVE (not his SIDE);
    • Correct: Create a problem to solve: Boundary-Perspective.

Rachel Bailey is a parenting expert and has an MA in clinical psychology.
