Haycock students competed in the 2019 Virginia District 5 National History Day (NHD) Competition at Mount Vernon High School on March 2, 2019. Several students from our school will be moving on to compete at the Virginia State History Day Competition on April 27, 2019.

For their individual historical papers at the junior level, both Deven Hagen and Andrew Lohman will advance to the state competition. Good luck!

For her individual exhibit Women Code Breakers and their Impact on WWII, Ally Hodder won the George Washington Leadership Award. This award was sponsored by George Washington's Mount Vernon and the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington.

For their group performance The Tragic and Triumphant Story of Revolutionary War Heroine Deborah Sampson, Lauren Hinckley and Samantha Carey won the Virginia Sons of the American Revolution Citizenship History Award. This recognized their noteworthy project covering the Revolutionary War.

We're all so proud of your success! For more information, please see this post on Mount Vernon's website: NHD Competition Winners.
