Heritage Night 2020
Participants and Volunteers for 2020 Haycock Heritage Night
On Wednesday, March 11, our annual Heritage Night will give guests a chance to travel around the world in one spectacular night and celebrate the diverse heritage our community brings to Haycock Elementary.
The PTA needs your help in making this event a success! Please sign up here (Sign Up Genius) to assist PTA committee members with set up, supervision, take down etc.
In addition, you and your student(s) are encouraged to participate in one of the following ways:
- Parade of Nations: Kicking off the evening’s festivities, students and families are invited to show off their traditional cultural costume in a grand parade from the POD, thru the halls, ending at the Gym.
- Taste of Haycock: Families are invited to contribute a favorite dish (store-bought or homemade) to be shared in our cafeteria. Any amount is welcome, but enough to serve 30-40 is ideal. Chafing dishes, plates and napkins, etc will be provided by our PTA. For many, this is the highlight of the Heritage Night experience!
- Cultural Display: Each interested student/family will be provided a space to share and display aspects of their heritage or a country one may be interested in exploring. This may include information on a location you have visited or want to learn more about. Participants are encouraged to wear traditional costume/clothing, share maps, show off souvenirs or compile a trifold poster board presenting highlights, such as popular tourist attractions, architecture or special traditions.
- Cultural Performances: Students and families are encouraged to share cultural experiences through song, dance, music, art, sports, or other unique traditional experiences such as teaching a skill. A Heritage Night PTA representative will contact all registrants to discuss specifics such as timing/space, etc. Slots are limited so please sign up early! Initial sign up deadline is February 29.
